[Akira leans on the door of their shared bedroom, giving only a light knock to announce his presence. He's guessing Akechi already knows he's there, but he tries not to sneak up on him, since they started living together.
He has some news and he's not sure how Akechi is going to take it, so best to start off on the best foot possible.]
[ At the knock on the door, Akechi looks up from where he was holding up a thread of yarn and trying to get Prince's attention, only to find his other cat by the threshold. It's still a bit of a novelty, and sometimes he still half expects it to be Lupin on the other side, but somehow having Akira instead is... not really that different, in a roundabout way.
So he smiles at the company, though the news make him curious. ]
Is that so? Hopefully nothing too terrible about me, haha.
[He smirks, even though he's still a little nervous about what he's about to say next. He comes to the bed, cautiously holding his hand out to try to pet Prince. The cat still hasn't warmed up to him that much, even though he's been living here... probably mad about the decreased bed space.]
[ It's the decreased bed space, and the additional, foreign smell in the house that he has to meticulously rub out of existence-- and as though to make a point, Prince only allows him a single run of hand down his body before clambering out of reach, then immediately throwing himself into a thorough grooming session.
Unlike Prince, however, Akechi gives the newcomer full attention-- especially so after that revelation. The Velvet Room door, huh... ]
You mean that door in the woods, correct? So it's actually useful to the both of you now?
[ A dicey proposition, indeed-- so much that Akechi can't help a genuine raise of eyebrows in surprise. Does Akira only want him to accompany him or to... actually go inside?
There's only one way to figure out. ]
What, as a bodyguard? I thought you had made it clear how much you didn't appreciate feeling like you needed protection...
[ In reference to an argument they had many times in the past. It's been a while since the last time, but it should come in handy right now. ]
I don't. [And what a time for Akechi to remember that...] But it's getting pretty dangerous out there...
[He shrugs.]
And I thought you might be curious.
[He's curious for sure, but for reasons he doesn't want to admit. There's still a niggling in the back of his mind that this is a terrible idea and he should just take the out Akechi is giving him, but he also... wants to see what happens, and trust that their relationship will survive it.]
[ Ah... That didn't work out as expected, did it? ]
Naturally, I am curious.
[ He can admit this much, at least-- if not for the reasons Akira probably thinks. He's heard about it, even seen the prisoner attire that Akira dons while in that place, but to actually see another person's Velvet Room by himself... It's tempting, for sure.
That's assuming it is someone else's, of course. But what it's Akechi's...? ]
However, I don't believe you've ever invited anyone into your Velvet Room before, have you? Are you sure that would be allowed?
[ He's not sure he wants to risk it. Time to try another out. ]
[While he has his theories, he's not entirely sure Akechi can see it, either. If he can enter the Velvet Room, why didn't Igor or the Wardens tell him about it? Then again, Igor gave him plenty of cryptic warnings, so it could just be how they operate...]
I guess it's up to Justine and Caroline. [He might get a baton to the head for his trouble, in the end.]
[ Well, it still doesn't seem like Akira is about to back down from this risky idea, but what he brings up gets a pair of narrowed eyes from Akechi. Those names... he doesn't think he's heard them before, but considering what he does know about Akira's Velvet Room, he can make an educated guess. ]
Justine and Caroline... Would they be... the wardens you've mentioned before?
[ Like this, maybe he can buy himself some extra time. ]
[ Sometimes Akira makes it really hard to tell whether he's just being facetious or otherwise, but at least it gives Akechi a solid excuse for his hesitation: ]
If they're so strong as to instill fear even into your heart, I hardly think I could take on their wrath, should they object to my presence.
[ The implication being that a wildcard like Joker is far superior to him. Hah.
Still, a part of him is moved that Akira is extending the offer-- the ability to look so intimately into his soul, more so than Akechi already has. It takes a lot of trust. Trust that Akechi isn't sure he could return. ]
Are you sure you wouldn't rather take someone with powers similar to yours?
[He's the only one here (supposedly) with powers like Akira's here.]
I wouldn't mind going with him. I want to meet his attendant.
[She sounds nicer than his, for starters. But while he likes Minato and is very curious about the differences between his "journey" and Akira's "rehabilitation," he has some other motivations.]
I just wanted to offer it to you... because it's a big part of my life, and so are you...
[That sounds cheesy... And he knows he shouldn't push now that Goro is trying to get out of it, but he wants to be honest, too.]

Hey. Minato and I wrote in the book.
[He starts there.]

We used it to open the Velvet Room door.

Right. With everything going on outside, it might be useful...
[The forest is getting pretty dangerous... though it doesn't really help that Akira has to go all the way out there to get to it.]
I wish it wasn't in the woods, though. So... I thought you might want to go with me.

But they've been a big help to me.
