[ He's a detective!! It kind of comes with the job!! ]
I see. If that's what you'd prefer, that is fine with me.
Should we meet somewhere, or would you like to come over? I don't have much to offer, but I could make you some of that tea I promised. Oh, and your friend, too, of course.
we can come to your place!!! i think that will be easier for everyone
we'll see you soon! (。^‿^。)/
[And, like, fifteen or so minutes later, here she is a-knockin' on his front door. Hello! Her friend doesn't seem to be standing nearby, but she does have a picnic basket hanging on one arm... and are those air holes in the wooden lid? How mysterious.]
[ And just like promised, Akechi has already started some boiling water in an old kettle for tea, so he's more or less prepared for Ochako's arrival-- he might not really know how to cook, but tea, he can do. ]
Good afternoon, Ochako-chan! [ He greets her with his usual smile when she knocks on his door, but also with a pair of eyes narrowing in curiosity. Wasn't she supposed to be bringing a friend...? ] Please, come in!
[She steps right inside, trying not to giggle at this oddly formal greeting. Her other friends simply barge into one another's houses and begin talking up a storm, but Akechi is always so calm, so polite. In other words, he's cool.]
You know, I didn't think to ask you this before I came over, but how do you feel about animals? Especially small, super cute ones?
[ Akechi would be flattered to know Ochako finds him cool, that's what he's aiming for!!
... that may or may not all go to pot the minute small furry animals are added to the equation, though. Incidentally-- ]
Small, cute animals...? [ A tilt of his head. ] I admittedly haven't had the chance to be around them much, but I find their company rather delightful.
[ He takes another look at her basket, and suddenly his face lights up with realization. ]
Oh, don't tell me-- is that the friend you wanted to introduce me? A pet?
[Ochako draws that word out, grinning all the while, because... well, she's excited about her new friend? She loves anything small and/or round, and this bunny hits both marks. Plus Akechi also looks excited, so while she certainly could draw this out a bit longer... nah. She carefully heaves the basket in front of her instead, unhooking the latch on its front.]
Okay, Akechi-kun! I'd like you to meet... Busta Rabbit!
[And without any further ado, she flips the lid back to reveal a very cute, very curious white bunny, who promptly sticks his nose up over the edge of the basket. Hello!]
[ Well, her excitement is certainly contagious-- and that's the excuse Akechi is giving himself to justify his beaming at the tiny little nose sticking out of the basket. ]
So it was a pet, after all... A most lovely surprise!
[ He... doesn't really know how to act around animals, though, so he approaches the bunny with slow steps, and finally leans in closer. ]
Hello, Busta-chan. I'm Akechi. Pleased to meet you.
[ And he extends his index finger to the bunny. He doesn't expect quite a handshake, but maybe like this it can get a whiff of his scent? Get familiar with him?
(It still very much looks like he's going for a paw shake, though.) ]
[A paw shake!! Goodness. Ochako bites her bottom lip, trying very hard not to laugh, while Busta... obligingly investigates this proffered finger. Foe? No. Friend? Sure! He's a very, very friendly bun, so after a few seconds of sniffing he pulls back and sits up the slightest bit higher.]
Oh— [She blinks down at her pet, smiling warmly.] I think he's saying that it's good to meet you, too! And that you can pet him. He likes to be scratched between his ears.
[ Oh, come on, don't laugh at him, Ochako! He's never been around pets before-- and he's awkward enough around people!!
And while he does smile fondly when the bunny doesn't seem to reject him, the expression is swiftly replaced with mild surprise at Ochako's suggestion. ]
O-oh, right..!
[ So he leans in closer again, lifting a single finger before slowly moving for the top of Busta's head. He starts with circular movements, slow but gentle, as though testing the waters, before going for the full scratch. Is he doing a good job, is he hurting the bunny, please tell him he's not hurting the bunny... ]
[Busta is... THRILLED! He stays still for a moment, savoring the scratching, before he sinks a bit lower in the basket and slowly closes his eyes. This is the life.]
Is he going to sleep?
[She all but whispers this as she leans down, trying to get a better look at this lazy bun. He is indeed drifting off to dreamland, nose still twitching. Oh no... this is all so cute...]
He is! That means he really likes you, Akechi-kun. [She glances up at him, beaming.] I knew he would.
[ He looks up as well, breathing out a small sigh of relief at Ochako's conclusion. He did it, he pet the bunny!! ]
Is that so? I'm really glad...!
[ And while not quite a beam like Ochako's, his smile is real, open and genuine, albeit a little surprised. That was a lot easier than he thought it would, really. Maybe he should get a pet of his own, one of these days... ]
Ah, but, shouldn't we be keeping it quiet, then? It would be rude to wake Busta-chan up...
